Farewell is Never Easy

Today is the last day that the trainees work for us. It was a wonderful and challenging 12 weeks for me to supervise and mentor them to be excellence in their work. Sometimes, I admit I was a bit tough on them esp who is under my supervision. Being a supervisor is never easy. It is never easy if you have the responsibility to look over their work, plan their work and guide them. It was never easy to make sure that people work up to your standard, because they are not me. They are their own self. They have their own strength and weaknesses. But time flies. I hope they learn as much as I learn to supervise someone very young in the field. To them they are my colleague as they are doing what I have planned for them. We had farewell lunch at the lab. I was the MC, and being clumsy MC, I have asked everyone to give out their words of encouragement to them. Suprisingly, in the absent of my immediate manager, I said ‘on behalf of’ and the lab (my dear lab). Oh man! I was so attached to this group and the place that made me wonder whether I opt of from this place. Hehe. We had Secret Recipe Chocolate cake with Walnut for desert. Yummy! And I took some for the kids. They must be ecstatic! But the boss, being ever so skinny, did not eat that yummy cake. Rugi! Rugi!

Special note: To dear NAZ, thanks for the gift. I never ask for one as your co-operation, willingness to learn, dedication and motivation to work are gifts for me. I hope that you have learnt something from the program. You have contributed so much for the group, and I thank you for that. If you decide to come here, our doors are always open. Do learn as much as you can and keep in touch with us. See you around, and have fun learning!
